  • MOL Presense: Mitsui O.S.K Lines - I think this is currently doing the milkround from HK to Indonesia
  • MSC Bilbao: Liberian registered - was south of Sri Lanka on 8th August (I wonder if the crew watched the Olympics opening ceremony on statelite TV ?)
  • Sinotrans Quingdao: sails under Liberian flag but first registered in Monrovia (where is Monrovia ??)
  • Dragonaria & Wan Hai 223: The Dragonaria (behind) has some history: Its a chemical tanker registered in Singapore . In February 2005 it was boarded by 7 priates armed with long knives whilst at anchor in Chittagong India who stole ships stores. The Wan Hai 223 built in 1994 is also rehgistered in Singapore
  • Cosco Rotterdam ">photo by D.Middleburgh

Registered in Bahamas. Note the small boat, which is bigger than a sampan, in foreground. The ship absolutely towers above it - which is why I won't take a sampan to Lamma

  • Calipso: Obviously this is not the Calypso of Jacque Cousteau fame.
  • YM FAHA: This one is registered in Limmosol Cyprus. I have been there and I remember having evening dinner at a beach restaurant there watching the ships come into harbour. Strange how things come arround.
  • CSCL Rotterdam & Hyundai Shanghai: CSCL Rotterdam & Hyundai Shanghai passing by
  • Yang Ming Vessel & Hyundai Freedom: Don't know name of the Yang Ming vessel but the company sponsors a maritime museum in Taiwan: http://www.mome.org.tw/
  • Barge 265: No idea what this Chinese barge is carrying but is lashed down good and proper
  • CSAV ITAJAI: Built this year and registered in Liberia. The purpose of this photograph is to demonstrate how cool is my new camera. Note the overall dimensions of the vessel by comparison with island behind and the webcam shots on my other blog . Note the small Pilot boat pulled up alongside and then look at the next shot
  • Pilot Boat: It appears that they are either putting pilot on boad (or taking him off) Since the boat is leaving HK I think the latter !!. Cool shot - with this camera I might even be able to photograph someone in Lamma standing on the shore !!
  • MELL Singapore: Appear to be part of the Evergreen shipping fleet
  • DeryYoung Spring :On the stern it says "Hong Kong" and ironically it's the only ship I could not find in the registries. Maybe I misread the name ?
  • Environmentally Friendly Boat: Yes well it says it all really
  • Wan Hai 303 : Just liked the shot !!
