The 'new' iconic Bank of China (HQ) in Hong Kong is a spectacularly modern tower just round corner from the 'old' BOC HQ building. This has 2 very traditional chinese "lions" guarding the main entrance.
as you will see from other pictures Lions on "left" (as you face door0 always have (their) left paw on a lion cub whereas lions on right has right paw on an orb(?)
There are also lions at the back (actually side) of the old BOC HQ and whilst the architects conformed to tradiition for front entrance the lions at back are positively art deco
There are a pair of "orphan" Lions as you walk through the China resources building framing whatever exhibition notice is up
This lion was outside on of the entraces at back (front)of Great Eagle Centre . You can catch a bus to china from the bus station on the other side of building.
Lions on the right
basking in sun
They have a surfit of lions at the CRB
Just to prove point that chinese Lions are not resticted to banks this one is just inside a doorway of a shop on Aberden main road. NB It is quite common for small shops to have ceramic cats to bring good fortune and money
This is also outside a shop near Aberdeen (selling traditional furniture etc to tourists) ironically the premises used to be a bank but it didn't have any lions ; these came when use changed.
There are a pair of lions outside a second floor Restaurant on corner of Chengtu Road and Nam Ning Street . The building could have been a bank previously ??
Lion outside Aberdeen restaurant - recently cleaned
This colonial lion is outside the HSBC HQ - well its says its the worlds bank so the lion presumably has to be generic
The China Resources Building has a large frontage and 2 sets of "bronze" lions outside. These are the ones on the left and they are not lions but "goats" (? i am told) I am not sure of their significance
Scaly goats (?) back
